The Best Of Al- But not on VHS
First off, a slap to Al with a rubber chicken for not releasing this on VHS also. Hopefully that will be done in the future. Now for the real reson you're here... My opinion! :) If you're a fan of Weird Al then this DVD is a must have. No where else can you find all of his videos in one place. From "Like A Surgeon", "Eat It", "Fat" & "Amish Paradise" this has them all, including some that I'd forgotten about (like "Living with a Hernia" & "One More Minute"). You can chose to go directly to a certain video from the menu screen & the liner notes inside the box gives some info on when, where & if someone famous was in the video (like Florence Henderson in Amish Paradise). The only thing better would have been to have the original video first & then the parody so you could compare them. Maybe next time.. As you can tell, I was pleased with the video & I think you will be also.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE VIDEOS, BABY!
This is a great disk. Weird Al is the best of the best when it comes to satire. Hard core and passing fans alike will get their monies worth with this collection, buy it right now! But.. The DVD leaves something to be desired. I was very disappointed that it contained none of the great supplemental material that makes DVD's such an outstanding format. The menu is minimal, and navigation is poor. This could have been the quintessential format for that brand of Weird Al wackiness we all love. The disk could and should have given us some of these things: Hidden jokes; song lyrics; insight; Easter eggs; fun menu navigation, and general Weird Al-ness. At least it's not a complete video library, so hopefully these shortcomings can be accounted for on the next video release. Still it's a great disk, can't wait for more.
