True Romance
This movie is pretty good. It has a lot of bloodshed and a new use for an old corkscrew. Has some great lines...and the sweetest couple under the milky way.
Always a favorite of mine. Why haven't you seen it, yet?
Quentin Tarantino claimed to be disappointed with Tony Scott's treatment of Tarantino's script, but I have read the script and I can't imagine a better showing. Tarantino has proved to be a master at recycling the cliches, the themes, and the characters of our culture, but in this movie he held it together with an unusually touching love story of two simple nobodies in an antagonistic environment. The dialogue was magnificent, but the delivery was divine. How did they get this cast??? Dennis Hopper, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, James Gandolfini, Val Kilmer, Brad Pitt, Chris Penn, Tom Sizemore, Patricia Arquette, Christian Slater, and Samuel L. Jackson??? Not only does this movie have one of the greatest ensembles, these guys are at their best playing off one another. Walken vs. Hopper, probably the best moment of both their careers in a 10 minute scene. Gary Oldman, an underrated genius and a Brit, goes almost undetected as a Detroit pimp who believes he's black. Gandolfini put himself on the map in this film as a talky, executioner similar to Mr. Blonde in Reservoir Dogs. The movie had a simple and even flimsy plot, but the dialogue and acting elevate the formula to art.
I eat the p___y, eat the butt, I eat EVERY motherfkng thang
Sam Jackson - the man can do no wrong. He's only in this film briefly but he's great. So is Gary Oldman as a white, dreadlocked pimp - OOOHHWEEE, THIS CHILD BE FIERCE!. And I can't overlook the gorgeous and sweet Patricia Arquette, who is marvelously cast here. Everyone is well cast. Christopher Walken. Brad Pitt getting high with a honey bear. Tony Scott directed and again it's a very slick-looking production (filmed in gorgeous Panavision). This special edition is terrific with multiple commentaries and an interesting alternate ending.
