sucks
Can't believe I blew money on this. Last 10 minutes are just okay - the rest is a snore
un-break my heart
I'll have to admit, i have never watched this movie straight from beginning to end. I usually skip to the songs i like. The movie itselfe is choppy at best. I like the pinball wizard song the best. Little sally and Come to this house is good too. To me this movie is like a big collection of videos. Jack nicklson keeps it real though.
Tommy features some of the best rock performances of the 70s
Taken in all at once, Tommy the Movie is one bizarre, trippy experience. The film includes some of the best rock performances of the 70's - most notably Tina Turner's "Acid Queen" with its inspired visuals and instrumentals. A young Elton John delivers an impressive Pinball Wizard, and Paul Nicholas is an oddly disturbing Cousin Kevin. Ann-Margaret is at the height of her powers as The Mother and Roger Daltrey performs admirably (if sometimes unevenly) in the title role. Production values of the final sequences are strangely low - unimpressive location shots abound - but the music remains strong.
It would be nice to see a retrospective documentary in the Special Features section - perhaps in a future DVD release? The "Original Quintaphonic Mix Audio" will be unnecessary for most, but great nostalgia (which is what this DVD is all about).
