great movie!
I have two boys 11 and almost 17 and both my boys loved it. and is a very great buy!

After.Earth
This is a very cool movie. Its an action thriller put to animation, and the animation is GREAT, I loved the fact that they fused 2D, 3D & hand made paintings together.
Its filled with action, the story is very tight and full of surprises, the humar is great. I enjoyed the fact that the 'hero' isn't your typical 'Lets save the world' type, he's just a guy who wants to get by.
Its a great movie to watch with friends on your next DVD get together, or by your self on a lazy afternoon, it'll get you pumped, you will not get enough of it... as far as children go, I think its a little too entense..its rated PG so that should give you an idea :D.

Haven't I seen this a million times before?
This movie should have been edited to about thirty seconds. Okay, maybe two minutes -- tops! They have made this movie over and over -- such that the viewer (in my case, that was me, but in your case, that will probably be you) knows exactly what is going to happen next. Worse, this one has badly-written songs to go with its badly-written dialogue and predictable story. To its credit, there are a few plot twists, but, sadly, too few and resolved too easily.

But what about the animation -- is it top notch? Well, it mixes computer-generated imaging in well, but the characters move in the Disney style -- motionless and then suddenly go through a weird, smooth, backing-up-and-then-changing-expression thing. Would be great if used occassionally, but as it is, it is used throughout the flick. Do not buy this unless you were born yesterday and need a crash course in watching cartoons.
