I can't believe my husband bought this! He never impulse buys but what possessed him to buy this I'll never know. It must be that he's a die hard Star Wars fan. Anyway, the kids love it. They've got it memorized and it's not uncommon to go on a road trip and have them recite the entire movie from memory. What I don't like is the whole "Touch your tongue to mine" thing - it's just gross. I can also do without Loke (Luke) and Scooby (Obi)looking up Bunhead's (Leia's) dress. But I gotta admit, Steve Ouderkirk (sp?) hits the nail right on the thumb by pointing out and making fun of some of the many silly things in the Lucas films. Luke really is quite a whiner, Yoda really is a puppet, Obi-wan Kenobi really is the silliest name in the galaxy and Princess Leia's cinnamon roll hairdo always did annoy me. Even if you don't particularly like this movie, your kids will love it. Touch your tongue to mine.. to make it all official...
I downloaded this movie off of a file sharing service and simply HAD to buy the dvd. If you're of the dilbert style generation where sarcasm and dry humor truly appeal to you.. ThumbWars will definately get a belly laugh out of you. One MUST be familiar with the star wars movie series.. if you're not, you simply won't get it. The thumb that plays Chewy's role (named Crunchy) is by far my favorite character.. His disturbing mouth and sharp black nail along with his growling n such are just too perfect. As far as parodies go, this is simply the best sci-fi one I've ever seen.. And with "The Blair Thumb", "Thumbtanic", and "Thumbatrix" in the blocks for future releases, I see a constantly growing library of spoofs promising to keep us all in stitches. Buy this dvd! That's thumb movie
I was completely taken off guard by Thumb Wars. I'd never heard of it before, but I instantly fell in love with it. Sure, there are tons of spoofs on Star Wars, but this has been the one that's made me laugh the most. In only 30 minutes, it skims through the plot of "A New Hope" (with a few extras from the others) using little characters with thumbs as heads. My favorite part about this is the superimposed faces of the thumbs. Their expressions are hilarious, not to mention all the quotable one-liners and off-the-wall gags they include! If you enjoy quirky comedy like The Simpsons, you must own this wonderful DVD, even if you've never seen Star Wars. I'd close by giving this movie two definite thumbs up, but that'd be a little ridiculous, don't you think?
