Yar, you be here: There's Something More About Mary (Widescreen 2-Disc Collector's Edition) > Customer Reviews There's Something More About Mary (Widescreen 2-Disc Collector's Edition) Customer Reviews (10 - 12 of 19 Reviews)Great 2 disc collection!
I'll leave it up to others to tell you about the movie if you havent seen it already. This edition is filled with great bonus features, 2 versions of the film, both the theatricle version, and the choice to watch un uncut version that does have some scenes that continue to add onto the hillarity of the film! Also theres an option to view it in clay mode, which is pretty much just the opening credits. Nothing to rave about there. The second disc is filled with interveiws, behind the scene featuretes, some goofy side things, and theres a hidden egg if you go to the trailers index, and press left to highlight the man closest to the toilet, you get a little 30 second clip of Woogie watchign the news and the news broadcasters saying they liked the movie ect.. Some parts of the bonues features are pretty boring, theres about three featurettes about 30 minutes long, maybe only the die hard fan of the movie would be intrestedt in it. I did skip those, but there is some insighfull and cool things on there! Only by this edition if you liked the movie in the first place, and the added extras will satasfy your Mary needs! But if your not intrested, just go with the normal edition, or dont pay alot for it.... but for the SAM fans, this DVD's pretty good! Ben Stiller is Ted and after pining over the girl he fell in love with over 10 years ago, Mary (Cameron Diaz), he finally decides that enough is enough and that he should find her just so he can see how she's doing. Needing some help, he hires Pat (Matt Dillon), a collector and a guy who's pretty good about finding people. Pat comes through for Ted but then he realizes that he has another agenda with Ted's girl. Now it's a total brawl for all just for Mary's affection. This is still one of my favorite movies of all time and probably my favorite from the Farrelly Brothers. Chris Elliot, Matt Dillon, Ben Stiller and Cameron Diaz are hilarious in this one. The sexual humor in this is a bit on the cheap side but it is funny as hell (ex: Ted in the bathroom at Mary's house before the prom). And of course who could forget the hair gel scene? This is a big thumbs up! Out the Farrelly Brothers movies, in my opinion, this one tops the list. Plus there are some pretty cool features on the DVD as well like outtakes, the end credits music video (in both regular music video style and in karaoke) and also some behind the scenes stuff as well. Seriously, check out THERE'S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY and if you're looking for another good one from the Farrelly Brothers, check out KINGPIN. FRANKS and BEANS!!!! = )
Rather than taking a stand for good taste and propriety, viewers will be better off surrendering to the outrageous mixture of full-tilt zaniness, ribaldry and freewheeling bonhomie in There's Something About Mary, a romantic comedy with its heart in the right place and its mind considerably lower. Let's just put it this way: The movie's two best sight gags, including the one above, can't be described fully in a family publication. That should surprise no one. Mary is written and directed by Peter Farrelly and Bobby Farrelly, the skewed sibling duo whose films include the vulgar-are-us comedies Dumb and Dumber and Kingpin. Their latest offering, while more sophisticated and appealing in its plot and performances, is still definitely too crude for prudes. At the center of Mary lies a sweet love story. Stiller, a nerdy writer, has pined for the movie's titular hero (Diaz) ever since they had a single date back in high school. That date ended disastrously when, while using the bathroom at her house, Stiller encountered zipper problems. Now, more than a decade later, he hires an investigator (Dillon) to track Diaz down. A gleefully unscrupulous sleazeball, Dillon promptly falls for the dazzling Diaz himself and begins putting the moves on her. Hilarity, truly, ensues. The entire cast has a blast, especially Dillon, who, sporting the thinnest of pencil-thin mustaches, revels in playing a louse. The scene where he drugs and then desperately tries to revive a passed-out pooch is alone worth the price. And you'll find yourself singing along with everyone else at the end--as the credits roll! A let-yourself-go with it flowing, funny, farcical love story.
