The Wiggles - Dance Party Reviews
My son digs it, and that's all that matters.
If you want to see The Wiggles way back when before they had any kind of money to put into video production, then "Dance Party" is an amusing artifact. Most of this DVD (along with its same-titled CD) have been remade into the far superior "Here Comes The Big Red Car."
If you've seen such "early" Wiggles videos as "Yummy Yummy" and "Wiggle Time" and thought those were done on a bit of a budget, then you need to see "Dance Party" which looks like it was created on half a shoestring. Henry, Wags, and Dorothy have also come a long way, as you can tell by their early costumes on here. The set designs are sparse, and Anthony's hair is indeed a mess. Anthony performs as Captain Feathersword, as well as one other person (perhaps Paul Field), so yes, this is even before the days of Paul Paddick.
Bottom line is my 21 month old son loves this video and all the songs as much as any of his other Wiggles videos, and that's all that matters. Most people will probably want to pick up "Here Comes The Big Red Car," but "Dance Party" at its core is the same kind of fun, and certainly an interesting video artifact for hardcore Wiggles fan.
Needs to be reproduced
The kids won't care that the quality isn't good or that this was obviously made at a time when the Wiggles had no budget. The problem is that there is no DVD menu. If you hit the "skip" button, the DVD does not advance to the next song, but rather to some random spot on the disk in the middle of a song. If your child is yelling to hear a certain song, there's no way to get to it except to FF visually. How much of a problem would it be to rerelease this DVD with the scenes properly indexed?
