Nice one, Adam!
Good movie!!! I guess this is what triggered Adam and Drew's newest movie "50 First Dates". You know why? BECAUSE THIS MOVIE WAS SO GOOD! It was pretty good. You just have to see it a few times. The first time I saw it I thought it was OK. Then, after the next few times, it got funnier and funnier! Its overall a pretty good movie. Especially the last 15 minutes when he gets on the plane and meets a famous rock star. (WHO? GET THE MOIVE AND FIND OUT!) So...yeah. Get this movie. You won't regret it.
Buscemi Steals The Show With Drunk Cameo:Good Natured
Like in all Adam Sandler movies the plot of "The Wedding Singer is very simple. The year is 1985. The idea is that Adam plays the part of a wanna-be rock star that has to resort to playing at weddings to make ends meet. His girl drops him like a bad habit and the new girl that he is falling for is set to marry a Don Johnson look-alike and act-alike complete with a matching Dalorian, the car from "Back to the Future".(Oh, no! ) (Yet again, Sandler plays a complete loser) Sandler's antics are kept more in check in this movie than others you might have seen him in.(He's less offensive) The movie, from start to finish, is an incredibly cheesy(not terrible) look at the 80's through the trendy musical sounds and the awful fashion. For anyone who watched Music Television(Or any television) back then it would be easy to spot the various references to the time. If you didn't watch MTV though, then or now, you would probably be best to avoid this one. You will miss out on a lot of the fun. "The Wedding Singer" is a pretty good comedy.(It has laughs) It's worth a look if you meet the requirements to get the jokes. Give it a try, it couldn't hurt. Watch out for the cameo by Steve Buscemi. That moment is a joy to watch.(It's Hilarious) A drunkard like that wouldn't be my first choice or second choice for best man.(Though family always complicates matters)
Early Adam Sandler Classic
Adam Sandler plays sweet guy Robbie Hart in mid 1980's New Jersey. In my opinion, this is one of Sandler's best pictures (Happy Gilmore was the other classic). He's not a mega-blockbuster funnyman yet who's trying to be overly pretentious & hilarious here... maybe that's what draws me to this movie. Drew Barrymore is great as Julia, his friend and eventual wife (I was never a Barrymore fan until this movie). Some great scenes... Hart singing "Love Stinks" at one of his gigs; Hart on a few ocassions getting the best of Julia's ... boyfriend; Hart singing his soulful incomplete love song about his 'ex' to Julia; and Robbie's bandmate singing Culture Club's "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" (twice). Sandler has a heart in this movie... he has wit, charm, and an unquitting character. Nice cameo by Mr."Dancin' With Myself", Billy Idol, and a great soundtrack - if you grew up liking 80's music.
