Excellent Shows Ever
If you are tired of CG and exaggerated special effect, this is something for you. Puppets Show!!! Jim Henson got his own way telling story with his puppets. He gives character and humanity to puppets and you would never see any one like this. Special effect is raw but it reminds us how we used to be, no powerful computers, no rendering software. Everything have to be depended on human control by hand and our head.
It is not only several pieces of movie clip but an art work (since we can seldom find any good puppet shows ever after).
Delightful Entertainment
I did not know much about the StoryTeller series by Jim Henson but from all the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. The DVD proved to be money well spent. The first thing that gets you is the opening theme which is so befitting of what this series is about. Each episode is a fairytale or tale based on folklore usually featuring creatures from Jim Henson's creature shop. The series deals with grown-up themes and does not patronize kids. You can watch it over and over again throughout your life. My favourite (and probably most peoples') is, 'The Soldier and Death'. However, the other episodes are also wonderfully entertaining. Watching The StoryTeller has made me appreciate fairytales once again, even as an adult. The intelligence and finesse by which the episodes were directed sets a high standard for all that dare to follow.
