THATS MY HUSBAND LOCAL LADY MARRIES BIGFOOT
The Simpsons rock!
And the funniest and most enjoyable and most cherished episode is on here-when Homer becomes Bigfoot-that is so funny-especially when Marge says thats her husband!
There has been over 200 or 300 Simpsons episodes-and they have had more guest stars on their show then any other tv sitcom!
I even have Simpsons pajama pants-and shirts!
The pajama pants are of Homer of course-why else would I buy them!
And who doesnt adore Grandpa Simpson?
And the pets are so cute-I just love them!
Another classic is when Homer buys a lobster then cooks him and is crying when he is eating him!
And Marge's sisters are also fun too-its funny how they hate Homer-they had a tombstone for Homer and it said we are richer for having lost him!
NEVER STOP SIMPSONS!
FAMILY GUY SUCKS!
The Simpsons..Complete First Season
I thought that this was an excellent DVD set. I reccommend it to all Simpsons Fans. However, I don't reccommend buying all the sets (we'll be dead by the time the season 15 set comes along). I suggest watching the re-runs on television, seeing as they appear just about daily.
The birth of the best TV series of all time
Yeah the animation is bad and the jokes aren't as funny but it's still a good half-hour animation show.
The show had a troubled birth. When they sent off the show to be animated overseas, they had to wait like six months for the first shows to return. When the very first episode came back (half of which is on the DVD with a hilarious commentary) it was so terrible they were sure the show was going to fail (see the "Some Enchanted Evening" commentary for more on this, brilliantly told over the course of that episode).
So the colors and character models are off and the shows are very raw to the eye. Big deal. The writing is solid; it's not nearly as fast-paced or as over-the-top as the series would become, but it's good.
Probably my favorite episode is "Life in the Fast Line" (for some reason that doesn't sound right but I can't remember it exactly) because of Al Brooks. Here's a classic run about brunch: "It's not quite breakfast, it's not quite lunch, but it comes with a slice of cantaloupe at the end. You don't get quite what you would at breakfast but you get a good meal."
The extras are great. This is was my first Simpsons set and first introduction to the commentaries, which are not smug or overly self-congratulatory and often funny and filled with details. The original scripts are great especially for a really big fan of the series like myself. There are a lot of drawings and notes. The Al Brooks outtakes are just audio but they're hilarious. Some docs and galleries fill the disc out.
The show is solid, but not brilliant, in this first season. There are still great moments just not as many of them. I think if you're wanting true brilliance buy the second season but completists and hardcore Simpsons fans will buy this anyway.
