Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins were perfect
I'll admit, this isn't the scariest movies I have ever seen, but it is still really good. Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster definetely did great acting jobs! One of the things that makes it such a classic is because it is not just blood and gore, it is also highly psychological. It's really worth seeing.
A serial killer movie without gore
How well does this flick hold up? Consider that the sequel was an over the top gore fest with no real tension. Much like Hitchcock films, the drama comes out of real tension instead of blood splatters. Hopkins performance is larger than life, but it works for the film. Foster hasn't really created memorable characters, but she can give the appropriate amount of emotional response to make the scenes. Plain good storytelling, a memorable character, and real suspense make for a satisfying movie.
