Ever popular and I don't know why...
I'll never understand why this movie has a cult following. Of course, there's Andre the Giant, a hilarious Cicilian (don't mess with them when death is on the line, by the way), Billy Crystal playing a humerous magician, and more quotable lines than possibly any other movie I know. I guess maybe I know why the movie is popular! It's cheesy, romantic, and there are a lot of funny parts.

Enjoy the movie... you'll be quoting it for years!

"The Princess Bride" is such a great fairy tale, complete with humor, satire, and drama. I won't get into the plot, assuming that several of the 700+ reviews written here have already done so, but I will share what makes ths movie so special to myself and a full generation of movie-goers.

The film feature the late Andre the Giant as loveable Fesik. He is my favorite part of the film, because to see this man, a once feared wrestler, play such a lovable guy, is really awesome and makes me truly wish that he were still alive to continue is such roles. Every scene Fesik is in is spectacular and when he is coupled with Wesley, the movies hero and Amigo Montoya, the swordsman, you form the perfect medieval times team. As you know, they all meet during Wesley's search for his love, Princess Buttercup, whom has been kidnapped by the Prince and the Six-fingered man.

THe movie is such a fantasy and is done on such a large scale, that it really appears well ahead of it's time and will certainly be watched for generations to come.

This is a great film for children, although as I have gotten older, it is very rare to find an adult who is not in love with them film as well. The DVD is a must buy, simply because it is the best production, in terms of quality, that the movie has received to date.

Watch this movie, then watch again and again and again. Trust me, this is what this movie does to people.

P.S. I really hope that they NEVER attempt to re-make this film, as it is perfect as is!!

This movie reeks of whimsical charm
I love this movie!!! I know that I am in good company. The casting was perfect, the humor quirky, and though this was a relatively low budget film, the resourcefulness of the director and producer(s) never lets you realize this. I have many friends who can do killer imitations of Inigo Montoya. I have been known to tease my past boyfriends by calling out to them, "[whatever their given profession is] boy, polish my reflective surface miscenllaneous article yonder, I want to see my face shining in it by morning."
This movie has a big heart, and I love Andre the Giant's character.
