wonderful, absolutely wonderful
Now we all know the movie. Hobbits are captured, heroes must save them, and war. A lot of people talk about how they don't like the helm's deep battle. While it is not very long in the book, I think it was a very good job by Peter Jackson to capitalize on action and heroic deeds being done. The part where the Elves show up to help with battle with that insanely awesome music playing, isn't true to the book at all, but then again, as explained in the extra's, it is fitting. I will just say one word to get you book fans excited to get this special edition. Gil-galad.

So on the extras they continue their AWESOME documentary on Tolkien. The extras would take a few days to write about and it would be much better for you to go experience it if you like the movies. Interviews, featurettes on everything, drawings...

The commentaries just like the the Fellowship are again surprisingly VERY entertaining.

I wish that Amazon had a more expansive rating system, becuase I would give this a 1000/1000. The boxed set is truly the greatest special edition of any movie ever.

PETER JACKSON IS BRILLIANT
How could this be any better? It seamlessly integrates extra footage and the story itself is told in a way that flows, makes sense to you if you have not read the books (quite unlike Harry Potter, I might add) and the music punctuates at the perfect times. This entire trilogy is masterfully created, the actors are all amazing in their own right. It's rare not to be disappointed with a fantasy genre movie, and LOTR is that rarity.

BEST MOVIE EVER
Many people are saying this is coma-inducing. NOT SO! There are admittedly one or two boring parts, but the rest is completely worth it. The battle of Helms Deep is the best cinematography I have ever seen and I love how they created Treebeard. My only problem is the climax of the battle with the Wargs. I felt that was only put it for more drama and more scenes with Liv Tyler in them. But in all, you would not waste money if you bought this DVD.
