Stick toVHS!
Thanks to all the reviewers who panned the DVD because of the bad audio. I was thinking of buying the dvd to replace my vhs copy but i'll wait and transfer it myself since my copy's still in pretty good shape.
As for the movie itself i agree with other reviewers who still find it charming especially the background paitings and considering the time it was produced and budget constraints it is still a very decent adaptation of the story.Some of the songs are real catchy and in the tradition of the great cartoon songwriting of the'60s and early '70s.Get the VHS if you can.

Meh
It's better then the animated version of Lord of the Rings. But my advice: wait for the live action Peter Jackson version.
