Leone's masterpiece!!! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
The Good, the Bad & the Ugly is Sergio Leone's masterpice, a perfect movie: Their characters are unforgetabble, the plot is incredibley well-constructed and focused, the photography is amazing, and the music is perfect (thanks to the work of Ennio Morricone) A special mention to some Blondie lines; he is also relaxed and quiet, but when he got to say something, is better for you to put attention beacuse he has the best quotes I ever heard in a long time (¨There are two kind of people...¨, ¨Such ingratitude...¨)

The image quality have been improved in this DVD so you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes and details. Considering this movie has been filmed in the 70s they have done a wonderful job in restoring it. I own antoher version and I can say that the difference is obvious: The color ir richer, light constrats are well-balanced and the film scratches have been supresed succesfully. In the second disc you can see some unrestored deleted scenes and you can compare the original picture quality with the new version. I watched it in my standardt TV system (wich framed the movie in the middle of the screen), but I presume that watching it in Widescreen TV system will improve the experience!

The music is another outstanding point. If you liked in mono, you'll be really delighted to hear it in 5.1 Dolby Surround. You can appreciate a more realistic sound and ¨feel¨ the environment. There are some scenes when you hear a dialogue between two persons, one in the scene and the other out (voice in off), and dependig in wich side is the character you will hear it in your right or left speaker, as it usually occurs in the real world. Shoots, crashing, steps, breathing and all the sound effets sound better. You got to hear the collapsing bridge scene: My room start rumbling wth the subwoofer power and i felt like I was there, near the explosion!!! To the nostalgics, the original italian mono is also included.

The packaging is astounding: a box that show Blondie in the front, and Angel eyes with Tuco in the back. They have used a copper hot-stamping technique to give a particular effect in the typography. As a graphic designer I can tell you that this process is way expensive than printing a plain color (black or red, in example). Inside of the box you'll find a set of mini posters, each one of then with very usefull information on the back; the mini poster photography has been framed, embossed and barnished so it looks great! In this edidtion you will also find an informative booklet that contains vital information about the film (the printing quality is the same as the box)

So, the specials included in the colector's set are valuable: deleted scenes, a documentary about Sergio Leone's style, a documentary about the audio recording, etcetera. You'll spend a wonderful time discovering interesting stuff that people usually don't have acces to.

I strongly recommend this edition of The Good, the Bad & the Ugly beacuse of the extra material and the audio/video quality. Eastwood fans won't be dispointed and westerns fans will be delighted. And also remember to watch the other Leone's films that are part of this trilogy: A Fistful of dollars and For a Few dollars more.

Quintessences FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
There are three archetypal characters in this film: Clint Eastwood as the Man with No Name, Lee Van Cleef as Angel Eyes Sentenza, and Eli Wallach as Tuco Benedito Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez. Eastwood is Good, Van Cleef is Bad, and Wallach is Ugly. "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" is the final film in Sergio Leone's trilogy of "spaghetti Westerns" with the first two being "A Fistful of Dollars" and "For a Few Dollars More". The three characters are after a stash of Confederate gold, but the plot is really not the focus of this story. They could be looking for a chocolate bar, and the story would not be altered much. This film is about three characters, each a quintessence of a trait, colliding as they pursue the same goal. There are shifting alliances, treacheries, moments of transcendence, defeats, and triumphs. The starkly beautiful background and the surreally eerie musical score (one of the most recognizable in filmdom) just add to the enjoyment of seeing these three elemental forces collide and move toward a grand conclusion. This is a memorable film.

This Movie Is Awesome FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
This movie is awesome and the extras are actually quite interesting. The mood created and maintained by Leone and his cast and crew throughout the movie is enthralling; it's impossible not to be mesmerized by the cinematography and the soundtrack. It's a true example of a cinematic experience: movie as art.
