This Movie F*cking Rules!
Out of all the spaghetti westerns ever made, Sergio Leone made his Man With No Name trilogy rock when spaghetti westerns had never rocked before. This is hands down one of the coolest westerns ever made and one of the coolest Clint Eastwood flicks! Gut-wrenching camera work and killer music, this is the movie you want when you need to see a good western.
Mostly good
I had the first dvd of this movie and it was not in sourround sound so I bought this one. You have to have sourround sound with that famous scene when the bridge blows up into pieces. This is in the top ten westerbs of all time. Sergio Leone is the king when it comes to directing a great spaghetti western. I have all the man with no name series and am glad I have the last and best one now. This had some pretty good special features and posters. I like the special feature when they talk about the music in the movie. Elli Wallach was funny and played a good part by being the ugly. Lee Van Cleef turns bad in this film unlike when he was in For A Few Dollars More. Clint Eastwood might not have much dialogue in this movie but he always lets his presence be known. This movie really has good close up shots of the people's faces and that is what I like about some of the spaghetti westerns. Great gun fights and just overall, a timeless classic. Buy it western fans. God bless you and have a great day.
"Hey Blondie"
The "Good,Bad And The Ugly". This is a western I saw for the first time way back in 1974 or 1975 on televison. After the first viewing, I along with my dad would always look out for it to be shown, which was usually as an afternoon movie on the local TV station.
Anyway, we thought it was re-freshing to see cowboys looking scruffy, unshaved etc... because many westerns made in the United States depicted clean shaved, spic and span looking cowboys.
The story of the Good, Bad and Ugly is very good. It is a long movie, but it does not drag. This movie nearly comes to perfection in terms of a western. This movie is a classic and is a good buy for the price. Eli Walach is excellent as is Lee Van Cleef. Clint Eastwood as well as the American cowboy of few words. The music in the movie does not date the movie. This is a good adventure story for anyone 12 years and up. I loved the movie as a kid and the movie is still good as an adult.
The only flaw I could see in the movie was the large contingent of union and confederate soldiers fighting in the seemingly desert/western area around Texas/Mexico. (Most of the heavy fighting in the Civil War was in the eastern states of Virginia and other eastern states. There were few skirmishes in the west (Texas, Arizona Territory). Other than that, the film is entertaining and is worth several viewings over the years. A good film.
