finally, available with an Italian language audio track
One detail that many are not aware: all of the italian western films were filmed without sound because it was expected to add sound and voices later after filming. What resulted was some very interesting dialogues, ampliphied natural sounds. When Lee Van Cleef arrived in Rome in 1964 to get ready to film "For a few dollars more", Clint Eastwood gave him good advice and told him to go to a movie theather downtown and watch "For a Fistful of Dollars" and he emphasized that it was better to see it IN ITALIAN, to understand the film production style of Sergio Leone. What results is a more drama-like and more opera-like setting of the characters.
All time best western
This DVD features such a great perfomances of Lee Van Cleef, Cint Eastwood and Eli Wallach. I feel proud to own this DVD, because it's a classic and the best western movie ever. In my personal opinion Eli Wallach's performance was just perfect, and I think he knew that maybe he wouldn't do it that way again.
So to everyone who gets this DVD will own a jewel of western movies.
Great movie, extras reviewed
I'm sure people have spent much time reviewing how great this movie is, and it is. So I'll keep it very short, and just comment on a couple of extras. It was cool that the extra footge was added in, but having Eli and Clint do the lines so recently was very distracting and obvious (as in, you could tell they were very old). For integrity purposes, it was cool, but for movie consistency, I almost would have liked to have had an impersonation closer to the original younger voices. It would have made these added scenes seem less obvious as added/restored scenes. Secondly, I've heard some people complain about the commentary being dry and boring. Personally, I liked it. Either way, who cares, these are just the extras... the film itself is phenomenal. You don't have to like westerns... if you like Quentin Tarantino, you'll love this. Probably, you'll love it for what it is, though!
