DVD packaging at it's best.
Wow. That's all I can say about this Special Edition DVD. I will bag the review of the movie. It's been done millions of time. Just wanted to put my two cents in about this particular edition.
The transfer is beautiful. The extra minutes added to the film are a wonderful surprise. This edition comes with a nice little booklet and some miniature posters. A real bonus that you don't often get with something like this. The special features included with the DVD are very well done and were just about as enjoyable to me as the actual movie.
You can't go wrong here folks. This price is easily the best DVD edition of any movie I have purchased so far.
If you like this movie, don't hesitate buying this version. It's flat out superb. I wish more producers would take the time and extra effort.
Masterpiece
Absolutely Fantastic!!! There is a magic to this film that exists in few others. It is really a foreign film, and perhaps that is what gives it that mystical, fantastical quality. Definately worth the money.
You never forget your first time
I saw this movie in bits and pieces when I was a kid. When I was fifteen I watched in full for the first time. When I was finished I rewound the tape and played it again. The next morning I got up and watched it again. That night I watched it again. As you watch it for the first time you're wondering what's going to next, and next, and next. This is a movie with so many great parts: Clint shooting the rope off of Eli Wallach's neck; Wallach coming in through the window as Clint twirls his cobra-handled six shooter; Lee Van Cleef's ominous arrival on the screen; the race through the graveyard; and so many more. The great lines from Eli Wallach: "There are two kinds of..." As you watch this movie you wonder when Clint is going to show up. In general, I am not a fan of the Spaghetti Western. After a while, it became a grotesque distortion of an American art form. However, I have to make an exception for this one. This has to go on any top ten Westerns list!
