Two Great Films for the price of several
This boxed set kinda ticks me off. I absolutely love the first and final installments of this series. LOVE. Cherish, etc.
Sure the picture is too small for my HDTV, but I hit the zoom button and it looks fine.
Here's the problem George: The Temple of Doom stinks. It stinks as bad as I remember it stinking. It feels out of place. Ark of the Covenant? Fabulous. The Holy Grail? Classic. Some Stones from a Random Tiny Villiage in India? Not really on the same grand scale, now is it? Plus the love interest is simply annoying, and there's no Nazi involvement. Had this not been named "Indiana Jones and the something something" no one would remember this film.
So I had to pay $50+ to get two fabulous movies, one junky one, and one disc of extras. I feel gouged. I think it's just unscrupulous not to sell them seperately. That way for $30-$40 I could get what I want without tossing extra money at George and Steven that they don't need.
Fast . Reliable. Recommended.
My package came within about 4 days of ordering it. It cames undamaged and in perfect condition. It was packed securly so nothin even got a scratch on it. I was very happy with my purchase and will continue to keep buying from Amazon.com
Donald D Steffy, you are slightly delusional.....
or grossly misinformed, for someone who claims to be such a "purist" and to know the film "shot for shot".
There has been NO editing done to the Map Room sequence in the first film. There was NEVER any beam of light traveling across the room, only the sunlit red reflection of the jewel in the headpiece to the staff of RA as it traveled across the miniature of the city. The beam of light always spang to life when the red reflection settled upon the Well Of The Souls. The sequence is exactly as it was in the theatrical version.
You are also mistaken about "loopy" clarinet being added to the Marion/ Belloq drinking scene. It was always there.
The ONLY change made in ROTLA is the digital removal of a cobra's reflection in the glass plate seperating it from Harrison Ford's face 6 inches away.
Oh, and there was never any "late 70's disco music" in the bar scenes in Star Wars, either. (Don't mean to be a nitpicker, but when misinformation is presented so emphatically and adamantly, I feel the need to set the record straight).
