Better Than You'd Expect FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
Although it's not quite clear on how Judgement Day comes to pass after it was thought to have been prevented, T3 is still an exciting an taut piece of action with a soul and a brain. Plus it's great to watch Arnold slip with ease into his most beloved role as the Terminator.

Set in this time, John Connor (Nick Stahl) is on the run still paranoid that Judgement Day is still coming, even after Cyberdyne was destroyed. His worst fears are confirmed when a Terminatrix (Kristanna Loken) appears to kill John and his officers that appear in the future. But a T-101 (Arnold) shows up to try and protect John again as well as his future wife (Claire Danes) and help them survive the impending Judgement Day, which was never prevented and is inevitable. Thae action that insues show and childlike fetish for mindless destruction as the Terminators tear up the suburbs, military bases and fallout shelters in a tense race for survival.

Much credit must be given to director Johnathon Mostow (the very underrated "U-571") who took a script that had a couple of nagging holes a infused it with quick, B-movie pacing and brains without letting up on the characters. Though Mostow never quite reaches the mature and intense directorial heights of James Cameron, he still brings his own taut sensibilities to the table, and with satisfying effect (not to mention he got to play with a $175 million budget).

Funner than the first two, but less story-driven FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
While the first two movies were more story-driven, apocalyptic affairs, this Terminator is pretty much all explosions and has a slightly disappointing ending, but is still an awesome movie. The special effects are mindblowing and Arnold looks like he hasn't aged a bit (botox? plastic surgery? natural youthful looks? a mix of all three? :-) Anyhow this movie is sweet and actually really isn't that violent except for a murder at the vet clinic and a nasty impaleing scene in a cop car (if you've seen it, you know what I mean). It's awesome though, rent it first and if you like it as much as I do (a lot) then pick it up.

On its own a good movie. FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
T3 takes off from where T2 ended. John Connor(Nick Stahl) is now a nomad, invisible in the society with no connection at all to his past. He is still paranoid about his reclusiveness and the future, which he views with trepidation. Yet it isn't enough to ward off another threat by Skynet, the AI super computer that unleashes a new bot called the T-X in the form of a woman (Kristanna Loken). Only one thing stands in its way to setting the course of Judgement Day....Arnie.

T3 on its own is a good movie. Really. It is astonishing to see Arnold this fit even at this age. You cannot diffrentiate him from his appearance in T2. Nick Stahl as Connor and Claire Danes, who acts as his love interest,as Kate Brewster, take their characters to heart . However, I wouldn't say the same for Kristanna. She is a bit too lame for a role that Robert Patrick immortalized as the amazing T-1000. She doesn't have the fierceness that Patrick had. Only one expression, is carried through the entire movie.

Neverthless,T3 is surprising in many ways. The movie is wittier and more subjective. The story takes a total U-turn from the original theme. Judgement-Day 'does' happen and Connor and Kate are the one of the few left to contemplate the horrors of the 'nuclear-mad' Skynet. How they cope and what will be the final Judgement Day could be the story of T4, if ever it does come out.
Johnathan Mostow (Director) may not have the flair of James Cameron (T2). But he brings in all his experience from 'Breakdown' and 'U-571' in creating genuine tension and one truly jaw dropping chase sequence at the start of the movie. The SFX is superb and thankfully not overshown. I'd say Mostow preferred story to SFX in pushing the franchise forward and it is the right decision. It remains to be seen how this new and exciting story will be realised in the next installement coz' I dont see how T3 would be viewed as the last of the Terminator series.
Watch the movie and have fun.
