Reviewer: Big Zach! NOT A KIDS REVIEW! although a kid!
Star Wars is an amazing movie series. It is incredible the story the action and the special effects. There all amazingly incredible. I have never met anybody who has never seen any Star Wars movie except for 2 people( but there wierdos)I mean it is so awesome and so popular. But in my opinion the newest and last trilogy is the best. In this dvd box set thay have awesome special features and it is digitally remastered and improve to for todays movies. I highly reccomend this box set and I highly reccomend the Star Wars movies.
If something is good why change it
I guess that I am repeating what a number of reviewers have done with a different twist. I have both the Laserdisc and the Videotape versions of the original trilogy. I saw the new versions of the movies and there have been improvements in the Graphics. However, these movies are not special because of the Graphics, but because of the storyline, the special times, the start of an era, the music by John Williams. These include a lot of first time actors who later became big. Apart from Alec Guiness, there were very few big names. Poor Alec Guiness, he had such a distinguished career, starting from "Bridge on the River Kwai" to "Lawrence of Arabia", but everyone remembers him for this role. Granted, he played a good role, but it is nothing compared to how great an actor he is. I am not going to go into the changes in the movies, enough reviewers have bashed them up. I for one, have the patience to outwit Mr Lucas and his dark side.
George Lucas does own the movies and can make any changes to it, but that is childish. For instance, Bach did make changes to his musical pieces and release them. However, Lucas is no Bach. Apart from the first two and the inital part of the third in this trilogy, the rest of the movies are terrible, while Bach had outstanding quality in most of his compositions. Most importantly, Bach released all versions of his music, unlike Lucas. Comparing Bach to Lucas is a travesty. I have nothing against people who like the new version of the movies. I for one prefer the older version. So, until he releases them on DVD, I refuse to enrich his coffers by buying this asinine version that he has released. He could have released both versions at the same time, but he is too smart for that. He realized that enough people would buy this version, wait for a few years and then release the original version. Oh, what a tangled web we weave.
The Ultimate Movie Experience
I am a huge fan of Star Wars, and have seen each of them dozens of times in both the original and special editions. The one thing I do not understand is why these new editions have recieved so much reverence from the fans. Yes there have been a few minor new changes, but overall, the magic is still there.
I compare this controversy to another recent outcry regarding a certain film called Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I remember reading an article where a middle aged woman boycotted the movie stating that her childhood was now ruined and she will never get it back. I consider this a baseless complaint seeing that the new version was so much different from the old version and that the two should remain seperate.
Such isn't the fate of Star Wars, which still retains all of the elements that made it a classic today, the only difference is that its a little more polished and fleshed out. I am not saying that the changes were necessary, I miss the old films too, but to say that the new dvd edition takes away from the overall experience is in my opinion, bantha fodder.
