George Lucas' endorsement of piracy
The edits and all of the "Special Edition" parts in this movie are garbage. I ended up getting ripped copies of the LaserDisc version since he refuses to accept money for what I'm willing to pay for. Good job, Georgie.

Original versions, please!
It is commonplace for artists to revisit and revise their work. Just look at the *four* different versions (at least!) of Verdi's great opera DON CARLO. *But* all the versions were and are considered valid, and all are still performed. George Lucas had some revised ideas for the 20-year-old STAR WARS films in 1997; the DVD versions arrived, with some more changes, in 2004. Some of the new ideas are effective; most are not. Nevertheless, the films are his work, and he is entitled to revise tyhem. I don't think he is entitled to withdraw the original versions, which were the films that drew the initial acclaim, and are better. Why not issue both in widescreen DVD format, rather than substitute the new versions for the better originals?

The force arrives on dvd.
The Star Wars saga is at last on dvd. Ok here goes. A new hope is a perfect movie now with the changes,the tweaked trench run is breathtaking and I like the improved Jabba/Han part as well. In the case of Empire you have to get used to the changes because the film did not need any at all. Jedi I rarely watch so I'm not going to review that one. The improved sound and picture alone is reason enough to buy. I thought the bonus features disc could have been a little better. But the reason I say that is because the original star wars trilogy is the best sci-fi saga ever told, and because the bonus disc that comes with Attack of the clones is so awesome. Well that's my 2 cents worth if you have too many doubts try renting before you buy. May the force be with you!
