Star Wars Trilogy 4,5,6
It is a trilogy which I have seen previously & wish to add to my library. I now need to add 1,2,3
Great to have, but BAD if you are looking for the originals...
Lucas put those into the dust long ago...and it's sad, but true.
Otherwise, great transfers, great sounds, MOSTLY what you were looking for...
And the bonus disc is definitely worth the time - the main documentary is definitely worth several viewings in itself.
But the originals are what most people were looking for.
Next to those, these reworked movies are garbage by comparison.
FX vandalized version of the best space opera ever
The original Star Wars trilogy is without doubt the best space opera ever filmed. It blends the highest elements of fantasy, folklore, adventure, and science fiction set to one of the greatest sound scores ever. Unfortunately, the new DVD set has destroyed much of the original with cheap looking FX that do more to destract than enchance. The replacement of Anakin Skywalker in the final scenes of Return of the Jedi was pure commercialism aimed at promoting the new Star Wars series. Someday, perhaps after Lucas has long passed from this world to the next, someone will release an unadultered DVD (or similar quality medium) of this great film. Until then, fans will be stuck with their deteriorating VHS tapes or Laserdisc copies. Way to go George!
