Star Trek - Nemesis (Widescreen Edition) Reviews
One of Sci-Fi's best films
I've always been a fan of Star Trek: Next Generation, but whether you are or not, you'll like Nemesis. There are so many aspects of this movie that exceed expectations that I can't begin to describe them all here.
Every character is well developed and expertly played. The story is exceptional and not only keeps us entertained and on the edge our seats for a couple hours, it also makes us ask questions about ourselves--about what makes us who we are. There are some of the best Sci-Fi action scenes ever put on the big screen, and major happenings for the Next Generation characters we have come to love. The story writing--and acting--are so perfectly nuanced that we feel as if we are member of their crew. Like we are as much a part of the Enterprise as they are--and what a wonderful feeling that is.
One of the better ST bad guys
This is one of the very good ST films. The enemy - a clone of Picard - is engaging as a dark-mirror reflection of the good JLP, who must defeat him to maintain his dignity. The acting is good, but Stewart looks like he is geting a bit old and feeble. Also, the Romulan culture is wonderfully further developed.
It is interesting that this is also a clear end to the series: the characters are going their own way, getting killed, or growing up. That makes it fun and promises that bad extentions, just like TNG quit while the series was still ver very good rather than squeezing every last drop out of its commercial potential. (TV producers, we note, failed to do so with Deep Space 9 and Voyager.)
Finally, the extras of interviews and outtakes are above average in quality and fun. There was even a cameo of Wesley Crusher, in which he had rejoined Star Fleet, but went off chasing chicks after a brief meeting.
Warmly recommended.
