Showgirls Reviews

Incredibly Misunderstood and Understated 90's Film FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
I've always loved over-the-top films, in terms of acting, plot twists & turns, etc. The only problem? I don't know that the movie I just watched and adored was campy until someone else tells me as such. So was the case with "Showgirls", a movie I had heard so much bashing about that I was to the point where I couldn't believe it would be as bad as so many had previously labeled it. The surprise: I was right.
Showgirls was one hell of a great movie, and no, I'm not talking about it from a so-bad-it's-good viewpoint. It holds up on its own as not only a great film with a wonderfully written (and quite intricate) script, but also as a milestone in MPAA history: "Showgirls" was the first film to be given the NC-17 rating, replacing the of-the-past X. Unfortunately, the mass of persons whose money is being given to the studios didn't think as I did, calling the film horrendous, replacing "Valley of the Dolls" as the worst, camp-iest film of all time.
Personally, I love VOTD and didn't think it was bad either, which was a surprise in itself to find that the world hated that film as well. Same goes for "Mommie Dearest." Therefore, it hurts me when others speak so freely of films I enjoy so with such a bland incompetence to how a movie is supposed to run its course.
I do not know why this film has been ruined by reviewers, not to mention the ruining of the actor's careers (minus Gina Gershon), but at this point I really don't care. I don't agree and don't understand this other view, but I'll accept . . .

I'll just continue loving "Showgirls" and maybe the world will be a happier place.

"Showgirls" has been rated NC-17 for nudity and erotic sexuality throughout, and for some graphic language and sexual violence.

Ridiculous FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
The film itself includes a hysterical commentary by David Schmader called the greatest movie ever made, plus a pop-up trivia track that offers juicy insights such as Elizabeth Berkley's total time in the film spent naked. The rest of the box includes a collection of party games such as pin the pasties on the stripper and a pair of shot glasses and game instructions for various Showgirls-themed drinking games. It's almost as ridiculous as the movie itself.Highly recommended.Showgirls is fun
