the pure facts
The sixth season definately redeems itself from season 5's rush through b/c half the cast was pregnant. First of all, 10 episodes of SATC for [$$$]is a great price!! How many of us pay [$$$] for a DVD that is an hour and 45 min long? Why is everyone complaining about the ~[$$$] (if you buy it the first week)? Secondly, splitting up the 20 episodes of S6 I think is reasonable. They can only put a certain number of episodes on a disc at a time, or the quality will be crappy (why season 1-5 looks so bad since they put 6 episodes on a disc). Splitting the 10 episodes on 3 discs will be better, and will leave more room for Features, which I feel the first 5 seasons are lacking. Also, they couldn't put out all 20 episodes at once because when this release date came out, they hadn't finished airing all the episodes. Everyone fails to realise that is why they are split up. Poor (not literally) Michael Patrick King has to sit there and record commentary for the episodes! I hope they put the hour long retrospective on season 6 part 2.
As far as everyone complaining about the price...all DVD's retail for a ridiculous price. If you buy the DVDs the first week they come out they are WAY cheaper, so if you look at it, you are paying [$$$] for 20 episodes, which is the same as [$$$] for 12 episodes, like season one originally costed. Season 5 for [$$$] (if you bought it the first week it came out) was abnormally expensive however for only 8 episodes.
Well, that's enough preaching from me... GO BUY ALL SIX SEASONS!! DVD's last forever! Some of you would pay [$$$] for a hairdo that lasts 3 days. Get over it. HBO is rich, getting richer, you are poor, getting poorer. If you don't like it, get into business.
Great show but GREEDY HBO strikes again
Having only seen an episode of SATC here and there over the past 6 years but enjoyed the show each time I caught it on tv, when I saw my local Wal-Mart had all 5 seasons on DVD available, I plunked down the $225+ for the whole series. It wasn't until I got home that I realized season 5 had HALF as many episodes and was the most expensive of the 5 seasons. I watched every episode back to back over the course of a week and became good friends with Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda and Samantha. Now I hear the bean counters over at HBO have in their infinate greed decided to release season 6 in two parts. Thus making the devotee's of the series spend what will end up being around $100 for the final season (Approx $50 for part 1 and 2 I am assuming) I will buy them, but wont be very happy with the price. Shame on HBO.
A rip-off
I was annoyed at how they split the last season into 2 parts...do the producers really need the money? For only a few episodes, you definately don't get your what you pay for. However the show is refreshingly funny and a must own if you love SATC. The episodes are hilarious even though you can sense some sadness in the air..
