Seven Beauties Reviews

Swept Away into Hell FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
Lets face it-- Lina Wertmuller learned all of her writing-directing chops as an assistant to her master (Fredrico Fellini). (I'm thinking she was a slave to her master). Am I wrong-- Lina?

Hell, Lina was 2nd director on such masterpieces as "8 1/2" and "Juliet of the Spirits". Not bad.
Then she struck out on her own...making films that teetered on commercialism ("Swept Away") or art-house fodder ("Love and Anarchy")
With "7 Beauties" She finally defined herself as an artist and Giancarlo Giannini gave her the performance of a lifetime.
Trust me, do not miss this film before you die.

How to screw up a great film! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff.
I received my DVD of The Seven Beauties with anticipation, since I'd seen this haunting film before. Crap! My copy was dubbed in English and also had English Subtitles! What idiot would combine these two accoutrements. Did he expect the audience to be pairs of English-speakers, one blind & one deaf? What a waste.
