it still rings true
I watched this several many years ago, late at night with a group of friends and found the plot a bit vague, the characters poorly defined, the cinematography fair to good, yet still, after all this time, the last number is clear in my head, moving and true. k.d. has a fine voice, uses it well, and has a persona to match. With all that the movie DOESN'T have, it has her and she shines through.
I'd rather pick my feet then watch this again. Bored now.
First off let me say this, I am a k.d.lang fan. This hopefully will prevent people from thinking "Your opinion doesn't really count because you're not a fan of hers in the first place." I don't really want to say all that much about this movie because I hate it when people give the entire plot away, or at least enough information to plot guess. This has got to be the most boring film about lesbians ever, and really how could it be boring if it's about lesbians? The only reason it's worth watching if you want to see lang full frontal, but even that isn't worth a purchase of this snoozefest. This is strictly a rental only, that way you can just fast forward to the nudity, then turn it off. I haven't actually seen this film in years, but once was more than enough. If you're interested in this film because of the eskimo plotline, not the lesbian one try watching "Nanook of the North" instead. Salmonberries tastes rotten.
