Rollercoaster Reviews
One of the more memorable disaster films!
Some disaster films are good, some are not. The Poseidon Adventure was one of the most popular in the 70's when these types of films began to take off. Rollercoaster always remained a favorite of mine. Released in 1977, it's basically about a terrorist who after sabatoging a roller coaster at a popular amusement park, begins to blackmail the authorities with more bomb threats if they don't give him what he wants. What exactly does he want? Well, money of course, lots of it. This was a fun little thrill-ride and is definitely worth a few peaks! It also stars a pre-teen Helen Hunt. I do not own the DVD yet, but I'm sure Universal has made it look even better than the VHS version.
Terrific Suspense Film from 1977!
If you are a fan of films from the 1970's, don't let this one pass you by. It is truly a time capsule piece from my childhood, so if that era of film making bores you, don't bother. However, I love the 70's era, and I love this film. I also wouldn't hesitate to show this one in front of the family. It is rated PG for mild language and a violent beginning. I really like all of the actors involved, especially George Segal. It's nifty to see Helen Hunt as a young teenager too. It's a well done film, presented in widescreen format. You also get the original theatrical trailer, which was taken from a print in not-so-hot condition. However the film itself is very clear, with great sound. It's well worth the price and near impossible to find anywhere else.
