Seeing is believing
You have to see Pumping Iron to believe it, and you have to listen to the bodybuilders to understand the angst of competition between them, before, during and after contest competition.

The philosophy involved in the making of Pumping Iron, and the devotion of the bodybuilders to their profession, is the irony of this 25th Anniversary Special Edition. It was all a game that launched the acting career of Arnold and reversed the media's nagative opinion about bodybuilding.

The competiting bodybuilders verbally sparred, played jokes on each other, challenged each other's physical weaknesses, worked out, sweated, and each explored their reasonable doubts about being the best well developed male...except for Arnold Schwarzenegger. He had the best personality that matched his abilities to win Mr. Olympia six times. I would say that his comic relief and devious intelligence was the winner over his physical prowess. Long live Arnold.

Simply Put - the Greatest Movie Ever
Simply put - this is the greatest movie ever created. Arnold is simply amazing - and above all, he is hilarious. The movie documents his road to another Mr. Olympia title - showing along the way the antics, lies, stories, and absurdities that Arnold subjects himself and his competitors too. The movie is full of memorable lines and Aronld-isms that cannot be given justice without hearing him say them and watching him while wearing his ridiculous 70s outfits. There aren't any worthwhile features on the DVD - but I've now watched it 15-20 times. Its a great party flick - drink some beer, watch some Arnold, and be sure to laugh. That is the most surprising aspect of the movie - its downright funny.

Greatest!
Best documentary EVER. Arnold mentions in the extras they called it a "docudrama" rather than a documentary, but it is--even if some if fictionalized. It's great, captures the essence of the sport and the drive to be the best. And Arnold's attitude brings along great humor!
