I enjoyed this film
I've seen it three times and enjoyed it each time. The film plays out more like a romance with some misunderstandings, funny characters and a plot twist. The BOOK, however, has real genius, wit, irony and insight, all of which are dulled in the film due to the overriding need to make the film 'romantic', which, in fact, the book is NOT. All in all a very nice film, beautifully filmed. Take the film for its intent, but please dont confuse it with the genius of Austen.
best pride and prejudice
I'm not going to talk about the color on this edition of this movie- check out other reviews on sound/picture quality.
This is the 3rd rendition out of 4 that I have seen of "Pride and Prejudice" and I thought it was the best. I wasn't even a Firth fan until I saw this (very recently). It did spoil me, however, for the Knightly movie (which IS a good movie). So, if you plan to see both, see that one first. And to anyone who liked that one, you'll LOVE this one.
Delightful version
Most people have seen at least one version of Pride and Prejudice and this is a very enjoyable one. It's a little long as it was a mini series rather than a movie but because of the length, there is more detail. Colin Firth makes the BEST Mr. Darcy. Smoldering and broody and very very attractive.
