movie revue for Notting Hill
I watched this movie, but was bored and didn't care for a few of the characters. I thought there were a couple of good parts, but this would not be described as really good entertainment. Definitely would not watch it twice.

A romantic comedy that is really worth seeing!
This is a heartwarming love story of a famous actress, Anna Scott (Julia Roberts), and an ordinary guy, William Thacker (Hugh Grant). At the beginning of the movie, they seem to be an unlikely match. They meet under unlikely circumstances but there seems to be an instant chemistry. She is constantly followed by the media due to her celebrity status and he has a simple life as the owner of a bookstore. Although their lives are very different, the two gradually learn to adjust. William learns about what it is like to live in the limelight and Anna has the opportunity to meet his friends and just feel normal. The story has many humorous moments and an ending to look forward to.

Julia Roberts does a great job of playing a role very similar to own real life and Hugh Grant also does a good job of playing the role of the ordinary guy. Notting Hill is a great movie to have in your home collection. I highly recommend this movie if you like romantic comedies.

Delightful
Every so often a movie comes along that simply shines, and stands head and shoulders above the competition. When Harry Met Sally was one, and Notting Hill is another.

The screenplay is exceptionally well written and the casting just flawless. This is more like a case of having a dozen co-stars rather than a 'supporting cast'.

The DVD extras are excellent, especially Hugh's 'movie tips', and the Commentary, which was incredibly informative. The only complaint I have is that the commentators talked over Julia's stunning "Just a girl" dialog, and even over the later scene in which Hugh reiterated her words.

That scene is one of the finest performances of Julia's career, and to have the guys talking over it is simply bewildering, so please prepare yourselves for the segment, if you are listening to the Commentary.

A must-have DVD.
