"Loaded Comedy Spoof with Estevez and Jackson"
'Hot Shots' and 'Airplane' were spoofs that became box office hits back in the 80's and 90's. "National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon I", which carries the tradition of Lethal Weapon and Naked Gun, tries to score with its 'loaded' comedy played out by an all-star cast, but goes middle-wise in laughs. Jack Colt (Emilio Estevez), who is a psychoed out-, washed-up cop and Wes Lugar (Samuel L. Jackson), a family man, are two cops who are on the trail of innocent Wilderness Girl cookies laced with cocaine by a drug dealing money-maker named General Motars (get it) (William Shatner). Helping Colt and Lugar out are dimwitted Becker (Jon Lovitz) and the seductive cookie-master Destiny Demeanor (Kathy Ireland). Look for appearences by Whoopi Goldberg, Charlie Sheen, Bruce Willis, F. Murray Abraham, Tim Curry and many others. I bet for you comedy fans alike (spoof or not) you might enjoy this one, But for 'Loaded Weapon I', I'd say it's a spoof in itself. 3 Arts Entertainment/New Line Cinema, 1993, Rated PG-13 for sexual dialogue, sensuality and some violence.
A hilarious spoof of "Lethal Weapon"
Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson are the Mel Gibson and Danny Glover of this film. There are spoof scenes from the Lethal Weapon trilogy and one from WAYNE'S WORLD. This filn was dircted by Gene Quintano who previously directed 1986's POLICE ACADEMY 3-Back In Training. This film reunites Quintano with Lance Kinsey. Kinsey was Lieutenant Proctor in many of the Police Academy sequels. Many people who have seen this film also saw THE BREAKFAST CLUB,THE MIGHTY DUCKS films,STAKEOUT,ANOTHER STAKEOUT(Estevez's other films),and PULP FICTION,one of Jackson's later films. Also many people who have seen this film also saw movies that Estevez's brother Charlie Sheen starred in.
