The Only Flaw In Their Plan Was Her!
Two teens plot what they think is the perfect murder, right down to the nice touch of leaving misleading evidence for the cops. Their scheme begins to unravel (and they begin to crack under pressure) when Sandra Bullock arrives on the scene. Bullock's stab at playing a tough cop consists primarily in chewing gum, and the film torpedoes an interesting premise with a risible climax (not the least of whose sins is reducing Bullock to shrieking woman-in-peril hysteria).
The commentary, by director Barbet Schroeder and editor Lee Percy, is articulate and interesting, explaining how each technical decision serves the themes and functions of the story. Percy, however, refers to deleted scenes as being available on the disc, when they are not. The only other extras are cast and crew filmographies and a trailer -- pretty thin gruel for a major release. And the menu is merely scored.
The disc, sound aside, is far from spectacular. But then, the movie's pretty mediocre too. So they're well matched.
Suspenseful
This movie keeps you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Ryan Gosling and Sandra Bullock are great!
