Issues that matter bring tears!
Deal with life's deep issues with a very convincing group of actors and you have a winner! This movie made me cry because the issues strike close to home, and throughout pulls off an intensity around these issues very well. To see people lifted out of self-destruction through real love is so rare today. Why can't we see more movies like this? What is hollywood afraid of besides not making enough money? The acting talent is sure available. This movie should NOT cost $.25 (for the vhs). To reach so deep inside the 'me that matters', it should be $25.00!!! Just go buy this movie and take a chance on something very real and very meaningful. This one is not to be missed!
ONE OF MY TOP TEN FAVORITES OF ALL TIME
Yes, I love Kevin Kline. Yes, the cast does a remarkable job with a marvelous script, but it's more than that--this movie has heart. It portrays modern life with its heartbreaking realities of divorce, drugs, sexual abuse, and cancer, but it's what it DOES with these issues that is so remarkable. Redemption is very real here. I loved it so much, I looked up the writer and found he wrote AS GOOD AS IT GETS as well. What a man. I watched this with my teenage daughter and it opened a dialogue between us. That alone is worth the price of the DVD. (Warning: Strong subject matter, you might want to view it first to decide if your teen (if you) are ready for it).
