Surrealist, gratuitously violent trash
This movie combines extraordinary amounts of violence with almost no plot at all. I'm not a prudish person: I'm all in favor of violence that is reasonable and enhances a movie (eg. soldiers in a combat zone getting blown up). By contrast, the violence in this film is grotesque, unbelievable, and serves no particular function. The plot could be summarized without loss on an average-size napkin (woman gets beaten up and raped, recovers, and travels the world slaughtering members of the responsible gang).

That this movie has been (and continues to be) so enormously popular is a frightening testament to both the herd mentality that prevails amongst movie-watchers and our society's numbness to gore and brutality. I recieved this movie as a gift, and I am sorry to have unwittingly contributed to its success. One star is too much.

I dont get it
I`m an intelligent man with a substantial IQ,but I still cant understand the astonishing popularity of this movie! There are over 850 reviews for this movie on this site! This movie is just pure schlock,no substance or depth.This is commercialized formulaic movie-making at its worst.

One of the best films by Quentin.
This is truly one of the best films Quentin Tarantino has ever created, Kill Bill vol1 had me the day it came out in theatures just one look at Uma Thurman and i was hooked i couldn't get enoff i ended up watching the movie three times, this film had a nice mix of old samurai movies, spagedy westerns, and my personal favorite (anime). I recomend it to everyone who shares the same passion for Quentin Tarantino's movies.
