Kal Ho Naa Ho Reviews
Does new music get any better?
Very cute... if you ignore the sad parts... the songs are soooo fun... Shah Rukh is his usual awesome self but REALLY needs Kinerase and Hydroquinone badly because his skin tone is suffering... Saif Ali Khan is really specatacular (and very Shah Rukh from "Phir Bhe Dil Hai Hindustani" - one of my fav's) and has come a looooong way... Preity is her usual spectacular, cute self... the "Kanta ben" stuff makes you smile even while you feel bashful for doing so (you'll see)... I recommend it... it's newer, fresher, more fun than most of the other stuff that was churned out of Bollywood this year... it makes 3 hours not seem like a decade! Yay! (what's next... Let's get ready to see how good "Hum Tum" turns out to be?!)
The songs are so well done and very well sung (is that a word?)... except for one, but people have different tastes so I won't say which one I don't like...
The title song, vocals done by that guy who used to host "Sa Re Ga Ma" is really done well... his voice, oi! It's so good, I can sing like that but I don't have his voice so it doesn't sound as amazing... I really hope he doesn't take it for granted... now I'm rambling... go! Go see this movie!
A romantic, comedic tearjerker
The movie is sentimental, but not terribly so. I actually felt for the characters instead of thinking of how cheesy the plot is. The acting, especially from Sharukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Preity Zinta, and Jaya is fantastic. The plot is a very serious, tragic one, but is speckled with lighthearted, intelligent humor. The score is amazing, and the songs are good as well, though in my opinion the latter could have been much better. The plot also deviates from the predictable Bollywood formulae that has cursed Indian movies of late, and introduces some new perspectives on life and love. Still, perhaps my most favorite thing about this movie was the amazing cinematography and professional overall look. Definately worth watching.
