JFK (Special Edition Director's Cut) - Oliver Stone Collection Reviews
Good Starter Movie & To The Partisan Hack Reviewers
I really liked the JFK movie, even though it does mix fact and possible fiction. It's a movie - it's to be expected. All this whining about Oliver Stone's politics is virtually useless...save the wannabe-writer-attempts for your next sales meeting while trying to spew Shrub apologist babble. As for the movie, I think it would bring people into reading more deeply into JFK...possibly of the point of disregarding the movie over time after other facts surface in one's search. Heck, we've all seen movies that started our interests in something that after the facts were reviewed that the movie was half-bogus, but still a fun watch anyway. It is a fascinating topic and will always be just like Pearl Harbor, 911, Iran Contra and many other things. The questions are almost always much more interesting than the answers. Until we have the answers, I suggest other partisan hacks stop their crying and complaining about Stone's interpretation. This is a great place to start on becoming interested in one of our most possibly-overrated but never boring leaders if you'd like a place to start. The acting is good, the music is not too overbearing and it keeps the viewer's attention...which is a lot more than I can say for other Stone movies.
This is a Modern Essential in Modern Film...Poignant and Captivating
This is a modern masterpiece in film. Not for the special effects or anything of the sort, but for the brilliant blend of who-dun-it, fact, the combination of old and new footage and the well moving script. The honest dialog and the excellent performances of all the actors makes this thought provoking film one you will want to watch over and over again. (each time you will notice something new) Oliver Stone has never publicly declared that this plot was "the" theory but rather bits and pieces of of a puzzle that does make sense when you place them side by side. This is an enigma that will probably never be completely solved, but one that is pretty easily deduced by anyone with the power of thought.
Recently there has been a production company that has sold several "documentaries" to TLC and The History Channel, under different titles, that seeks to diffuse the theories with pseudo scientific experiments. One in point,(name withheld) did an experiment using the alleged same angles, etc, shooting at a doughlike body-replica. Unfortunately, the temperature was not the same, ther replica was sitting still in a chair in one spot. This same doc sought to discredit the Zapruder film. This production company, which is funded and owned by neophyte right wing zealots who are in a campaign to "reverse the damage of the 60's, Watergate" and rewrite history to divert the eye of public back to the sights prescribed by the powers that were in the government at the time. The people born after 1971 need to make sure they educate themselves enough to keep an open and broad view of history and current events, not just accept any explanation they are fed. There is no way that dissention and rejection of a canned response should discredit ones intelligence or artist expertise. This is a wonderful movie that deals with a lot of "what ifs" and "guess whats".
Great movie, love the DVD-getting another one today...Get one home today...Share it with everyone.
