Harold and Maude FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
A warm and quirky comic gem that's built a sizable cult following over the years. Director Hal Ashby's second feature boasts inspired casting, with veteran stage actress Ruth Gordon irresistible as Maude, and Bud Cort so ideal for Harold that the young actor was forever typecast as a weirdo, as mentor Robert Altman had sagely predicted. Fabulous soundtrack from Cat Stevens.

One of the all time great movies. FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
Harold and Maude is one of the greatest coming of age movies of all time. It tells the story of a disaffected young man and the relationship he develops with a Nazi concentration camp survivor. In the process he learns that he can develop a relationship with himself and the world at large as well.

I didn't find it particularly black, it certainly has a great sense of humor, a bit eccentric at times but not all that dark.

Harold and Maude is one of the all time great movies, I recommend it highly.

Great Film about an Unlikely Alliance FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
Wide-eyed 17 year old Harold has all that he desires. Except love. Wealthy beyond avarice he is none-the-less a pitiful character. His possessive mother arranges dates for Harold (auditions actually), as she deems him fit to join his peers on the dating scene. She fills out the computer love test for him, and sends it back without even letting him know. She despises girls who EAT SANDWICHES, and drink wine FROM A BOTTLE! This will be no easy match-making. In the meanwhile, Harold stages numerous fake suicides for his mother's unbenefit. Enter Maude. Nearly 80, and with numbers tatooed on her left arm. she had been in NAZI warcamp but survived. She enjoyed life to the fullest. savoring every minute she had left. Harold and Maude meet at a funeral and discover both have a fascination with death. It is from that odd commonality with death, that Harold and Maude grow into love. It is a bit, of course, sappy and accidentally amuseing. worth a gander though. but I wouldn't get it.
