Halloween: Restored Limited Edition Reviews

Great movie FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
instead of the ussual blood and gore halloween uses style ans atmosphere to scare its audince. It uses shadow lighting and music to set the mood. It takes a while to start since they are bulding charecter. The charecters in this movie wernt just some dum teens set up to die they are real. The movie had so much class. I would reccomend this

Classic shocker still packs a punch. HALLOWE'EN rightly deserves it's iconic status. FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
This low-budget film became a massive hit when first released back in the late 70's and time has done nothing to diminish its impact and popularity. It spawned countless imitations and inferior sequels but accept no substitute, HALLOWEEN reigns supreme as the ultimate in the slasher genre and John Carpenter has never been able to surpass it's brilliance.

The story is rather simple. A young boy brutally butcher's his sister in Haddonfield. Years later, he returns bigger and badder than ever and for no apparent reason, targets a young babysitter (Jamie Lee Curtis in one of her best performances) and her colorful, troublemaking friends.

Unlike its sequels, HALLOWEEN lacks intense gore. There is hardly any of the red stuff on display. Okay, so maybe there is but not to the degree you might expect. Despite this, it's still a hundred times more effective than it's countless imitator's and what it lacks in the gore department, it more than makes up for it in suspense. The film starts off with a brutal killing and then mellows down quite a bit. It slowly takes it's time to build up the tension and thanks largely to the clever script and slick performances, it never looses its target audience like so many other horror movies do. We are kept glued to the screen right up until the chilling climax. And let's not forget Carpenter's eerie score which has become as iconic as his enigmatic killer.

Another reason why this film works so well in my opinion, is because it does not try to explain every little detail. Movies of today try to explain too much and it kills (no pun intended) the overall mood. They may be loaded with screams and gore but there is little to no mystery. And a little bit of mystery never hurts a film. There really isn't a reason for the killer's vicious attack on these unsuspecting girls. But does there have to be one? Let the audience try and figure out the motivation behind Michael Myer's rage against mankind.

So for the few out there who have not yet experienced the eerie magic of HALLOWEEN, what are you waiting for? Slasher films of today have not been able to top Carpenter's classic tale of bloodshed and tormented babysitter's.

HALLOWEEN deserves to be in everybody's DVD collection. Highly recommended and pleasant dreams.
