I love GHOST Much,'tis One of my Favorite romantic movies,I have it on LASERDISC [FS] And I have the DVD [WS] too :)

a nice sentimental film FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff.
(Warning: several "reviewers" below have apparently felt it their misguided duty in life to reveal the entire film, including the ending. If you haven't seen ghost, proceed with caution)
A nice film, but not a classic in any way. Certainly nothing that can be compared in any way, shape, or form, to GWTW or Casablanca. Yes, Ghost has its moments, but without Whoopi, who's absolutely magnificent, the film would be almost completely medicore. But the key word is almost. The sentiment of the film is one thing, but the technicals are another. Swayze is good for what his limnited role is, as is Goldwyn, and some of the character actors are very good. Some of the visuals are super, and the plot shows some real imagination. If you realkly want to be honest, the boulder weighing Ghost down is unquestionably Moore, who, while she's never been more than a severely limited actor, is close to useless here. When she's not overacting, she's crying, which is about 98% of the time. It's overdone so much, it's becomes almost laughable. You stop feeling anything deeply emotional about halfway through, and it never comes back. I wonder what someone more talented could have done with the role?

Successful blend of comedy, romance, fantasy and suspense. FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
Ghost is probably the most successful blending of several genres: romance, supernatural thriller, comedy, and crime drama. It works on all levels, due to good performances and skillful production of a concept rarely pulled off so well, that of a ghost, visible only to the audience, trying to solve a problem for the living characters. It was done somewhat successfully in some very old movies such as Topper, The Time Of Their Lives, and That's The Spirit, all great movies, but Ghost goes farther, appealing equally to those interested in romance, comedy, and suspense.
Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore are clearly in love, and when he's killed by an apparent mugger, it's hard for her to accept. Swayze's ghost appeals to spiritualist Whoopi Goldberg to warn Moore that's she's in danger from the people who murdered him. Goldberg has some hilarious scenes, and it's my favorite role for her. The love between Swayze and Moore is established so skillfully that we care about them making contact, and that creates a good deal of the film's suspense.
There's not much that's very scary compared to the best horror movies, except on scene with a crazy ghost on a train. However, the romance, comedy, and suspense are each enough for a great movie, all together making this one a "10."
If you like the sort of fantasy film that deals with death, angels or ghosts, some others that you may like are The Bishop's Wife, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, That's The Spirit, On Borrowed Time, and more recently The Dust Factory.
