Ghost Ship (Full Screen Edition) Reviews

It's a GHOST STORY not a slasher film. Better than the reviews here! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
Ok, it's not the best ghost film ever made, but it is far better than the reviews here state. If you're looking for a good ghost film, this one belongs along side THE CHANGLING, THE HAUNTING (the original),DEATH SHIP,LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE,GHOST STORY,HAUNTED and THE OTHERS. Yes, Ghost Ship has some slow moments, as do most the above mentioned. It's a movie about a haunting, not a slasher film. Like any good ghost film, Ghost Ship builds to a satisfying and memorable climax. Plus, there's some gory special effects (love the opening scene), nice camera work and an original storyline (for a change). The sinking of the oceanliner and releasing of the spirits is done beautifully. I loved the new "ghost crew" setting up the next ship for a simular fate! It's by far better than all the recent ghost garbage like BOO! and the horrible remakes of 13 Ghosts and The Haunting. If you like teenage body count films with blood and boobs, then pass by this one (and don't write bad reviews).

lacking the general uneasiness that is crucial for any ghost story FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff.
A man approaches a salvage team to tow an old Italian cruise ship with a jinxed past.

The best part of this movie was the opening scene on the cruise ship where the wealthy voyagers were slaughtered. I'm not sure if I'd say it was believable, but it was certainly a sweet effect.

Julianna Margulies and Gabriel Byrne are in the movie - definite plus!! Some of the ghosts were kind of cool, including the little girl and the sexy young singer.

The movie does have some decent scenes, but overall it was lacking the uneasy or eerie feeling a haunted place would have. This is a MUST for any ghost story. Without it, everything is just bland.

Plus the ending lacked imagination....or rather they tried to throw in a twist, but it just wasn't an interesting one. There was relatively little to no foreshadowing about the man who approached the team, so when the time came about for the twist I was left with a disappointed feeling of, "oh. they're going to end it that way."
