Gettysburg Reviews
Amazing
Before I give my review I would like to say that everyone who says that Martin Sheen is a bad R.E Lee, or that the movie is inaccurate, or that the movie is too accurate and gives to many stupid details, or that the movie moves to slowly, is a dumb idiot who cares more about hollywood depictions of the Civil War than true depictions. The movie is positivly lovely to watch.
The acting is amazing. Martin Sheen plays a great Robert E. Lee particularly after Pickett'c Charge - just because he is not as old looking as Rober Duval was TEN YEARS LATER!!! does not make him a bad Robert E. Lee. Tome Berenger is magnificent as James Longstreet and Jeff Daniels has one of the strongest roles as Joshua Chamberlain. Even the minor roles are amazingly passionate such has John Bell Hood, I particularly love the part where he is explaining the situation to Longstreet before Little Round top. Porter Alexander is amazing, another part I love is when Alexander is telling Longstreet how low on Ammunition the Art. is before Pickett's charge. Its the little things like this that really make this a quality movie.
The reenactors are amazing - well most of them. Most are the skinny fit men like those who fought in the war, however theres always a few officers with beer bellies.
And the scenery is great. I've been to Gettysburg many times and I know the battlefield like the back of my hand and I can see emmitsburgh road; little roundtop and big roundtop; ect.
Anyhow great movie and you should buy it.
This is a great movie!
If you're into the Civil War, this is the movie for you. It tells the battle from both sides. It follows the activities of both sides. This is a must have for fans of the Civil War.
