classic Eastwood
This is one of the classics I can watch again and again. Ranks as one of the best of the spaghetti westerns. They don't make them like this today. No wonder Eastwood has been around as long as he has in Hollywood.

excellnt movie in a series of great Sergio Leone movies
Magnificently subtle
In my opinion this is the best of all of Sergio Leone's films and is also the best movie [and I've seen them all] that Clint Eastwood was ever in. This is not to say that this is Eastwood's best acting--it isn't--but the film itself is, in its own subtle way, powerful and compelling.
"The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" is great but "For a Few Dollars More" is more thoughtful and just a shade better. The character, El Indio, is one of the "best" bad men of all times. He is, at the same time, both sensual and absolutely, totally and convincingly evil--a creature beyond salvation. The high point in his life is a rape and murder which he reminisces on--constantly. At the same time he is, for reasons unknown, loved by members of his outlaw gang. Even when he is sleeping they make sure he is warm and comfortable by packing extra blankets around him. Such devotion makes no difference to Indio. Rather than share the stolen loot he murders his compadres. He is a four-plus, revolving cabron--in Indio evil becomes something close to a virtue.
Fortunately, for the safety of the Universe, Eastwood and van Cleef team up and, with the brilliant device of a music box, stage a duel with Indio and do him to death. It's all so very satisfying.
