Soft Porn
I'm not sure if this is a Thriller pretending to be soft porn, or a soft prono flick pretending to be a thriller? Like a porno film, this movie has no plot and lots of nudity. Mr Kubrick had been in seclusion for years before he made this movie. I wonder what he was dreaming of in his absence... Wait, let me guess.... I think the "deep" meaning here was that Stanley Kubrick had discovered Viagra and needed an outlet. I don't care much for Kubricks work. I don't know if it's a 60's thing or what, but LSD might make this film seem more sensible. Buy this if you are a young man who has no life and lives in your grandmothers basement.
Disappointing Swan Song!
Stanley Kubrick will always be my favorite movie director, right up there with Hitchcock and Scorsese. But this film is not one of my favorites. The story line is confusing. There are some scenes that are unnecessary (i.e. the doctor with the prostitute). And the length of the movie was brutal. The film could have been chopped off by an hour. As for the sexual content, I thought they could have used more of it. It was a let down. This swan song was a sad ending to a brilliant career.
