Embrace of the Vampire Reviews
Venus under fang
Now I've heard it all, all these complaints about plot in a softcore vampire film. Get your priorities straight. There are many pleasures to be found in this film, not the least of which is Ms. Milano, igniting countless fires. Hail to brunettes!
A Very Hot and Erotic Thriller
Alyssa Milano stars in this movie about vampire seduction and erotic romance. Milano stars as Charlotte Wells, a sensuous but innocent college freshman. She is being seduced by an obsessive lover which only comes to her in her dreams. The lover is a vampire, played by Martin Kemp. He has been waging his own battle for survival, and his time is about to run out. He has only three days to find a virgin and draw the lifeblood from her in order to survive. Otherwise, he will cease to exist.
The vampire has been coming to Charlotte in her dreams, forging images of uncontrollable lust, the powers of darkness, and eternal passion. Charlotte is the only one who can actually "see" the vampire, and she gets some very odd looks from her classmates, including bitchy Eliza (Jordan Ladd).
Charlotte has a boyfriend, Chris, (Harold Pruett), and he's noticed the changes in Charoltte. However, Chris is having problems of his own. Like every red-blooded American boy, Chris dreams of having sex with his girlfriend. But to Chris' tremendous frustration, Charlotte keeps putting him off. The frustration finally boils over, and Chris finds himself in the arms of Marika (Jennifer Tilly), a very persuasive bar chick. Will Chris hook up with Marika, or will he remain faithful to Charlotte?
Meanwhile, Charlotte is going through her own transformation. Gone is the innocent girl image, having been replaced by a much more "grown up" look, complete with a red mini dress and dark lipstick. The vampire keeps up his visits to Charlotte's dreams, and each time she is drawn closer until the final night, where she meets the vampire in the clock tower at the school. Chris, sensing something's wrong with Charlotte, miraculously shows up just as the vampire is about to bite Charlotte on the neck. Will she choose eternal life or Chris?
This is a very good movie. The plot is a little thin, but Alyssa Milano is the reason to watch this movie. Her sexy body is shown multiple times throughout the movie, and the scenes with Charlotte Lewis are excellent. If you're a fan of Alyssa Milano, then this movie is definitely one you don't want to miss. Watch and see how Alyssa has changed from her "Who's the Boss" days into a spicy grown-up woman.
