Driven Reviews
Absolute junk!
Don't waste your money. Get the following movies...
Le Mans: About as real as racing can get. Just wait until the end of the first lap and you hear the roar of the Porsche engine. It gives me chills just thinking of it.
Grand Prix: Great cinematography! The melodramatic story can be a bit much, but the movie in widescreen is spectacular.
Days of Thunder: Just plain fun. Not that accurate, but a fun movie...and it's a Bruckheimer!
Don't even bother with Driven unless you can borrow it from a friend. Don't pay to watch this piece of unrealistic, hollywood shlock.
A Formula One Movie...
DRIVEN: Classification: Fast-Action Racing Movie
First, there's not a lot of Formula One race movies out there, so to see anything on the sport that captures more than a hint of the real life action is a plus.
Second, there's plenty of racing action featuring Formula 1 race cars, which is what I paid to see. It's mostly presented in a flashy, quick-cut, action-packed and over-the-top way, and it's fun to watch, so long as you don't take it seriously, since some of the crashes are really over the top and probably wouldn't occur in real life.
Though the story isn't genius by any means, Stallone conveys emotion and some intelligence in the film, from time to time, which gave me something to relate to. It's mostly "Believe in yourself" talk, but I liked it, even if non-fans think it's too goofy, it works for this fast-paced movie about high-performance sport machines.
The story is basic, but follows the career of a rookie driver, played by Kip Pardue. He does an adequate job, but I'd say Stallone is my favorite actor here.
"DRIVEN" definitely delivers on the Formula 1 race car action and speed, and if you're a fan of the sport, or enjoy fast-action race movies with plenty of races (more than 4), give Driven a chance.
Don't expect to use your brain much here, it's mostly geared for those seeking a fun time watching cars fly by as the music beats to the action, though there are equal moments of character and plot.
"Driven": Fast, Fun, Fuel Driven Film." And underrated IMO.
Recommended to: Race Movie Fans
Actual Rating of 4/5 based on the fact the racing takes the spotlight and delivers, just don't expect a ton of realism with the crashes, though it looks cool.
