Good Story but slow moving
The cast was good, the people were decent actors, just moved kind of slow for me. Not sure I would spend the money on the video again if I had it to do over. It's just hard to rent gay movies, it's easier to buy them.

An Excellent movie. Worth seeing more than once.
I will not detail on character development or who did what. This movie is worth the money to see it. I have watched it several times. My girlfriend cried a little. I wish that there was a sequel to deal with the change to New York.
There are obvious sex scenes. Very mild sex scenes and some nudity do not distract from message. I enjoyed it immensely.

still great to watch
I watched this when it first came out on VHS. It was an eye opener for me. I thought it was good then, but watching it again of late, I came to realize that this was a very good movie. The acting of Lindley, Shaver (and the actress who played Cay's "bed buddy" carried this movie. In addition the dialogue was just damn good. Kudos to the director, Donna Deitch.
Patricia Charbonneau was sometimes a little iffy, but overall did a credible job. This was early in her career, I have to believe.
The issues in the movie (being closeted, homophobes and like) are as valid today as they were in the setting of the movie.
Watch it, you'll enjoy it.
