The true Das Boot
Das Boot is an amazing movie that any true war fan can appreciate. I finished watching it last night and couldn't believe it was over. Just to clear up any misconceptions, the UNCUT ORIGINAL is the longer version of Das Boot, running approximately 5 hours versus the Directors Cut which has had much of the movie content cut out for run time. The UO comes in a very presentable DVD case with sleeve-cover. The movie is shown on 2-DVD's which both offer an interactive menu for ease of use. Das Boot flew by amazingly fast - anyone who says the UO is too long to watch doesn't know what a real war movie is and would be better off watching a cheesy knock-off like U-571. The characters in Das Boot are given enough time in the beginning to introduce themselves to the viewer and I found several of them growing on me as I watched the movie. Special effects, such as explosions etc, are slightly lacking but nothing that distracts from the sounds and suspence found in this amazing movie. The soundtrack is quite captivating as well.

Das Boot: UO is a very good buy, worth the extra few dollars for several more hours worth of this maritime thriller. A movie which any true war fan can and will enjoy. Just wish it was longer ;)

The Additional footage is well worth watching*****
I recently saw the uncut 293 min version and was pleased to see that the additional footage added even more depth to an already amazing piece of film...you can read my original review of this film under the "directors cut" that I wrote yesterday, and whether you choose to believe or disbelieve what I referred to in my past is your choice.
