This was a wonderful well written story of two people who have everything in common except they are both married to the wrong people, cheating spouses that is, this not only had humor, love craziness but just taking that chance to be with the one you should have been with to begin with, wonderful performances from all the cast members, Lloyd Bridges is hillarious! Get Out there and rent or buy it because it is well worth it! Kim Rutherford
It's a family affair!
This is one of the best romantic films I've ever seen! Larry ( Ted Danson) and Maria ( Isabella Rossellini) are attending the wedding of her mother to his uncle when their spouses disappear together after the ceremony for a very obvious tete-a-tete. All of the guests have departed and during the embarrassing lull Larry and Maria begin to get acquainted with one another. Both are fully aware of what their spouses are up to but each would like to pretend their assumptions are wrong. A few days after the wedding, Maria visits Larry at the dance studio where he is an instructor and the two discuss whether or not their spouses ( played by William Petersen and Sean Penn) are actually having an affair. This meeting leads to several others and the two quickly become good friends, discovering they have much more in common besides just a cheating spouse.
As their friendship turns to love, Larry and Maria both decide to step back from the relationship for a while as neither one of them is certain that they wish to end their marriage. It becomes apparent, though, that their spouses are continuing their affair and despite their best intentions to stay away from one another, Larry and Maria finally decide to take a chance on finding happiness together.
Ted Danson and Isabella Rossellini are just perfect together in this movie! Ms. Rossellini absolutely lights up the screen with her grace and beauty. And be sure to watch for a terrific performance by the late actor Lloyd Bridges as Ted Danson's aging but amorous father. He's a riot!
I highly, highly recommended this wonderful romance!
